The auto industry was selling more cars than ever before and inventing the Mustang. “Once in a Great City” is a snapshot of the people, culture and politics of Detroit at the height of its prosperity in the early 1960s. He will speak about his newest book, “Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story,” as well as his experiences as a writer. Maraniss, who was born in Detroit, is a three-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and won the Pulitzer for national reporting in 1993 for his coverage of then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton.
